A GROUP CALLED Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership paid for the signs. Their spokesman said trigger locks are dangerous. The purpose for owning a gun is to defend ones life against evil-doers. Trigger locks make it difficult to stay alive, so whats the value of a trigger lock? said Aaron Zelman of Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership. But some medical experts said the billboards give the wrong idea. It gets your attention, and thats what Im concerned about. It gives them misinformation, said Dr. Jim Mercy of Firearm Injury Center. Three of the billboards are being displayed in Milwaukee this month. The Milwaukee Jewish Council said the group that paid for the ads does not represent the Jewish community as a whole. |
