Mauser Jagdwaffen GmbH Germany, in partnership with their new parent company, SIGARMS Inc. of Exeter New Hampshire, has resumed manufacture and sales of the legendary Mauser "M 98 Magnum" bolt action rifle.

Featuring the best of old and new, the Mauser M 98 Magnum is based on the original "Big Game Rifle" but manufactured with modern technology to exacting standards.

The Mauser 98-action is machined out of one solid piece of high-grade steel. Manufacturing is based on drawings of the original designs from 1936 and respective Mauser patents.

The M98 Magnum Mauser rifle is built in the old style, but in accordance with up-to-date technologies. Still the M 98 Magnum embodies the traditions of big game hunting and the new M 98 is stronger and more accurate than ever.

Mauser M98 Magnum Returns

EXETER, NH (December 20, 2000) – The original big game rifle, the Mauser M98 Magnum, has begun production again. The manufacturing is based on drawings from the 1936 model and includes several Mauser patents. The receiver of the famous bolt-action rifle is machined out of one solid piece of high-grade steel using the latest technologies, but the rifle is completely styled based upon the great Mauser tradition. The original Mauser M98 Magnum best represents the lore of big game hunting, but has been made more rugged and accurate than its predecessor.

Weighing in at a solid 8.8 lbs, the M98 features a double, square bridge magnum action with two massive locking lugs plus a third safety lug, a Rigby-style floor plate with a magazine capacity of 4 +1 (the .500 Jeffry has a magazine capacity of 3 + 1), and a non-rotating claw extractor for extremely reliable, controlled feeding. The select walnut stock with fine checkering has a cheek piece and rosewood fore end tip. The stock has a hand-rubbed oil finish and is adorned with a steel pistol grip cap and a magnum field recoil pad.

Quick sighting of big game can be accomplished over an Express style rear sight and a brass bead front sight on a polished blued barrel. The single stage trigger has a crisp action and a trigger pull of 3.5 to 4 lbs. Available calibers include; .416 Rigby, .450 Dakota, .458 Lott and .500 Jeffry. Besides the timeless design of the traditional Mauser M98 Magnum, the new rifle is extremely accurate no matter what conditions or game you are facing.
