SIG-Sauer P228 - Introduced in 1989 - Made in Germany. The P228 is still
in production and widely used by Military Units, Special Operations Forces and Law
Enforcement Agencies all over the world. The SIG P228 is also known as the Army M-11
Compact Combat Handgun. SIG's Engineered Reliability, Simplicity of Operation, Instant Readiness and the Compact-Sized with extremely comfortable handling characteristics have made the 228 a top choice among Military and Law Enforcement Agencies throughout the world. The P228 is a Compact Frame, High Firepower, Semi-Automatic Pistol. The unique Decocking Lever and Patented Automatic Firing Pin Lock allows the hammer to be Safely Lowered with a round in the Chamber and eliminates the need for an external safety. The P228 comes with High Contrast 3 Dot Sights or with the optional SIGLite "Trijicon" Night Sights, Black Plastic Stippled Stocks; Standard SIG SIG Blue Finish, with optional Two Tone, and K-Kote Finishes available. SIG categorizes this handgun as "Compact Sized" and It is one of the best handling and cancelable SIG Pistol.
The 228 a 9 mm only handgun is currently Limited to Law Enforcement Only, but just until SIG fulfills all its pending LEO & Military orders, however 228's are still widely available on the market. SIG will be lifting the LEO only protocol very soon! Note: all weights and dimensions are approximate.
