Security Assistance Training Management Office
The Center has a unique element
in the SATMO. It serves as the single point of contact in
providing security assistance teams and training-related support
to various worldwide security assistance organizations (such as
military groups, military assistance advisory groups and offices
of defense cooperation) and unified commands based outside the
continental United States. The Security Assistance Teams
Division of SATMO coordinates and manages the funding,
formation, preparation, deployment and return to the United
States of various security assistance teams.
These may be of several types:
mobile training teams, technical assistance teams, technical
assistance field teams, engineering and technical service
specialist teams, preliminary requirement determination teams,
and surveys. To staff the various teams, SATMO has the authority
to task any Army units or schools based in the continental
United States. The Training Assistance Division supplies the
security assistance teams with training guidance, material
assistance, training materials, publications, lesson plans and
other aids and training devices suited to their need and
requests. It also supplies the security assistance organizations
with publications and training aids when necessary assistance
organizations with publication and training aids when necessary.
